At Providence, athletics is an important part of our commitment to educate the whole student, academically, spiritually, socially, and physically. Providence has a strong athletic tradition. Many of our students participate on athletic teams, which have competed very successfully against much larger schools in the region. We have won league championships and competed successfully in section championships.
As much as we enjoy winning, however, our primary focus is to accomplish a greater goal.
Our primary aim is to help reveal and strengthen the athlete’s character in such a way that his or her life more brightly reflects the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our coaches, parents, and players are united in this pursuit. We believe that the godly qualities of diligence, humility, teamwork, selflessness, perseverance and the pursuit of godly excellence can be strengthened through athletics in ways that cannot be achieved in the classroom alone. Athletics can also help establish healthy habits of activity that help us become better stewards of the bodies God has given us.
We will post all sports schedules including tryouts, games and practices.
All students who want to participate in California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) approved sports at PCS must:
- Be enrolled in at least four classes at Providence Christian High School
- Be progressing towards graduation
- Maintain a 2.0 GPA
- Must have no “F” in previous grading period
We support a strong athletic program because we believe that through athletics we can bring glory to God in some very specific ways. Athletics offer a unique and effective environment in which to reveal and reinforce important character qualities. Athletes can learn some of the Christian life’s most valued lessons on the practice and playing field. We will do our very best to win, but our efforts will be successful if we reinforce the godly qualities of diligence, humility, teamwork, selflessness, perseverance and the pursuit of godly excellence
PCS is a member of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), Division 6, and our staff is active in serving the regional and local associations. Providence competes against area member schools of similar size.
Athletic fees for the High School are $100 per sport. There is no additional fee charged for Junior High participation.
